Should I include unpaid startup work on my consulting resume?
I have an unpaid startup role on my resume where the original plan was to receive equity later, but I left before that happened. Do I need to flag that the work was unpaid, and can the startup founder still be used as a reference?

No need to bring this up unless you're asked (and I can't see why they would ask)!If they do ask, just say that there was an equity compensation plan, but you left before that was brought to fruition in order to work on other things.Absolutely having him as the referee works!
