How should I handle a low GPA in a consulting application?
I graduated with a low GPA because I was working while studying. A consulting firm has now asked for my transcript after I submitted my CV. Should I proactively explain the grades in a cover letter, or avoid drawing more attention to them and focus on the rest of my application?

I my opinion you should not draw attention to it. Rather, focus on your strengths.
The best thing you can do is:
Make your resume as strong as possible
Make your cover letter as strong as possible
Network a ton
Your best bet to get around bad grades is going to be networking. You don't look good on paper. Period. Therefore, you need to shine in person…get around the on paper judgement by getting your face in front of people…network!
